On 04/11/2018 the SPLA IO forces based around Juba had a fruitful meeting with their counterpart from the SSPDF as directed by the two Chiefs of staffs of the SPLA IO and SSPDF respectively. The SPLA IO team was led by Brig. Gen. Warnyang Laku Buyu of Brigade 1, Division 2A, Sector 8. With him were the following officers.

Col. Peter Gatluit Nyuot
Col. John WIYUAL
Col.Charles Jada Augustino

On the other hand, the SSPDF delegates were as follows:
1. B/Gen Chol Deng Chol known as Chol Gutkom (D/Commando commander) and
David Mayen malual

The meeting when smoothly and below items have been agreed upon.

Free movement of soldiers or security personnel with departure orders. The soldier must be unarmed and in none uniform.

Enable free movement of Civilians, non military logistics and goods through or to our territories; that means all roads from North of Juba to Terekeka, Mundri and to Lainya must be open to everyone; there will be no detention or checking unless a person is carrying a gun and wearing uniform.

Take full responsibility for any criminal activity that happens in each other’s territory and bring the perpetrators to books.

Give humanitarian organizations unhindered access to the most vulnerable population so that basic services can be provided to them.

The SPLA IO applauds the courage of both teams who showed that peace is a priority at the moment in South Sudan, not political differences. Wish all South Sudanese the best. Peace ✌.

Col. Lam Paul Gabriel
SPLA IO Deputy Military Spokesperson.
