SPLA-IO confirms its troops will be moving to Cantonment areas.

The Deputy spokesperson of the SPLA-IO confirms that their troops will begin moving to cantonment sites in accordance with a directive issued by SPLM-IO leader Riek Machar.

Dr Machar ordered all SPLA-IO forces to assemble in cantonment areas as soon as possible, as part of the revitalized peace deal. The opposition leader gave the directive while speaking to supporters who gathered at a rally in Khartoum on Friday.

Under the deal, the parties are required to assemble their forces in cantonment sites to enable registration of personnel, weapons, screening, reorganization and demobilisation.

All forces in cantonment sites shall receive non-military logistical supplies including food, shelter and access to medical care.

SPLA-IO spokesperson Lam Paul Gabriel says troops will begin moving to the designated sites.

Meanwhile senior SPLA-IO commanders and political members are expected to meet Terekeka state officials today, as part of an ongoing trust and confidence building process.

SPLA-IO Deputy spokesperson, Lam Paul Gabriel says today’s meeting in Terekeka town will be facilitated by CTSAMM monitors and the United Nations Mission in South Sudan.

Lam says the IO team will be led Gen. Benjamin Gore, the IO sector 8 Commander, and will include senior commanders. He explained the importance of the meeting.
