International flights in and out of Juba Suspended.



International flights from and to Juba International Airport has been suspended after an imposition of closure of Sudan’s airspace following Thursday’s ouster of long-time serving President, Omar al-Bashir, sources have confirmed.

On Thursday, Sudan’s defense minister, Gen. Awad Mohamed Ahmed Ibn Oauf, who was also al-Bashir’s first deputy issued a statement announcing the ouster and arrest of Mr al-Bashir who has been in power since coming in through a military coup in 1989.
He imposed a closure of Sudan’s airspace for atleast 24 hours affecting South Sudan’s international flights. Sudan is responsible for South Sudan’s airspace.

Speaking to South Sudan News Now from the capital Juba, Kur Kuol Ajieu. Director of Juba Airport confirmed the development but said the measure is only limited to commercial flights.

“Yes this is true. The political development in Sudan has imposed this on us but it is limited to international commercial flight and this will be in place until Monday,” Kuol said.

He added that domestic flights are operating as normal.
