Authorities in South Sudan’s capital Juba have arrested a suspect accused of killing a female police officer last week, family sources said.

Captain Sarah Rout Chung was murdered by a man believed to be her husband by stabbing her several times according to police and members of her family.

Speaking to Nyamilepedia on Sunday, a family source said the unidentified suspect was arrested on Saturday night at the Jebel area of the capital Juba where he has been hiding since last week.

“The criminal has been arrested, thanks to the Juba police force,” the family member who declined to be named told the Nyamilepedia from Juba.

“Now he is being questioned on why he murdered her and the police would then forward him to the court,” the family member added.

South Sudan’s capital Juba has witnessed an unprecedented level of crimes in recent month. President Salva Kiir had instructed the security forces to crack down on crimes.
