Security forces set to remove illegal check-points



The Interior Ministry has announced an order directing the organized forces to remove immediately all illegal check-points across the country.

Gen. Majak Malou, the Inspector General of Police made the announcement in Juba on Saturday.

The police chief said members of the security organs at those points have also been asked to leave immediately.

He said a committee consisting of representatives from the organized forces and commands has been formed to ensure the implementation.

“Today we have just set and form a joint committee that comprises of members from National security, the police and the national army to go and view and see into it that unnecessary checkpoints are being removed.”

The Inspector General of Police said the committee is tasked to supervise the implementation of the order.

“They will move from here to Nimule and from there to Aweil and any other states that we hear have such unnecessary checkpoints. They will move today and they are mandated to do that. It will be their job that the presidential decree is being implemented.”

In early November 2017, President Kiir issued a presidential order banning all unnecessary checkpoints that interfere with humanitarian agencies access to local places.
