Dozens of Peaceful protest arrested by National Security in Juba.



South Sudan’s National Security Service has arrested dozens of protesters who took to streets in Juba on Wednesday after a nephew and son of President Salva Kiir Mayardit killed four members of one family.

The killing took place this morning in Sherikat, a neighborhood few kilometers outside the country’s capital.

Following the killing, protesters took to the streets to denounce the security forces’ killing of civilians and urged president Salva Kiir Mayardit to “either resign or solve the issue.”

Speaking to South Sudan News Now this afternoon, oen protester said the National Security Service has been deployed at the protest scene in Sherikat and have made 30 arrests within the last hour.

“The national security service has been deployed in the place where protests are taking place. 31 people have been arrested and now they are threatening to use force against us if we do not returns to our homes,” the protester said.

The protester further said “we are not leaving.”
