“My life is under threat” Student at Jama Juba pleads for help following his involvement in protests”

A student activist at the university of Juba says his life is under threat following his involvement in protests on the dismissal of his colleagues at the institution. The student who sought anonymity, says he has received life threatening message from elements whom he believes are security agents, for challenging Vice-Chancellor John Akec’s decision.

Meanwhile four students from the University of Juba say they were yesterday detained by security personnel for several hours, following protests on the dismissal and suspension of twenty-eight of their colleagues early this month.

One of the students, tells Radio Miraya that they were held at Buluk police station yesterday from 10 o’clock in the morning to 7 o’clock in the evening.

The students say they were informed by police that their detention was to ‘contain the situation.’

Speaking to Radio Miraya, one of the students says they were protesting the decision of the Vice Chancellor John Akec to dismiss 14 students and suspend another 14 last month, for allegedly ‘creating unrest’ at the campus.
