President Kiir has been named “Man of Peace” for the year 2020

President SalvaKiir was today named “Man of Peace” for the year 2020 -by the Peace without Borders Organization.

The Global Peace without Borders Organization today presented President Salva Kiir with a peace medal for the year 2020 for his efforts to bring Peace to the people of South Sudan and Sudan, according to President Kiir’s press office.

“H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit this morning on Tuesday( 1st December 2020), has received a Peace Medal for the year 2020 from Global Peace without Borders Organization for his tireless efforts to bring Peace to the people of South Sudan and Sudan.” Read part of a statement from Kiir’s office.

According to the office of the president, the Peace Medal was presented to President Salva Kiir by Dr. Muhammad el-Arab from Peace without Borders Organization which is sponsored by Gulf Countries that include Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.

In a statement extended to Nyamilepedia this evening, the press office of president Salva Kiir reiterates that the Gulf countries recognize president Kiir as a man of peace for which he deserves recognitions for.

“The Award committee from the Gulf Countries unanimously agreed that H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit is a man of Peace for the year 2020 due to his tremendous efforts to bring Peace and stability in South Sudan.” They said.

The Global Peace without Borders Organization presents its award to selected leaders they deemed to have demonstrated efforts in bringing peace either to their countries or to neighboring countries.

In 2019, the Gulf nations presented the same award to the President of the State of Djibouti  recognizing his contributions to the peace-making process and his efforts to provide relief to the Yemeni people who live within Djibouti after their displacement by the war in Yemen.

The organization also believed that the President of Djibouti had consolidated peace in Somalia, Eritrea and Ethiopia.

The organisation commended President Salva Kiir Mayardit for the vital role that he has continued to play to negotiate peace and reconcile the people of Sudan and South Sudan.

After presenting President Kiir with the medal, the Gulf nations pledged their interest in strengthening bilateral ties with South Sudan.

Dr. Muhammad el-Arab, said the Gulf Countries want to open embassies in South Sudan and that can start forthwith with the establishment of Bahrain Embassy in Juba, and the South Sudanese leader had no objection.

This will be the second medal president Kiir has received in less than three months this year for his peace efforts in Sudan.

While the Sudanese peace implementation is still kicking off, the South Sudanese peace implementation, which began in September 2018, still struggling to move past its pre-transitional period.

Whereas the security arrangement has not made any significant progresses, the formation of states and local governments, and the establishment of the Revitalized Transitional Legislative Assembly, among others, are yet to kick off.
