According to family members, the veteran tested positive to COVID-19 and was rushed to hospital after showing unusual new symptoms on Thursday, December 17. His wife was admitted a day earlier, on December 16.

A statement released by the Lagu family shows that  the two elders are having difficulties battling the virus but they are currently stable.

The family encourages relatives, friends and sympathizers to be strong, saying they are good fighters and will also go through this battle.

“Have no doubt Joseph Lagu is a fighter. He is the father of a nation. Amna Lagu is a formidable matriarch and a survivor. Their situation is currently being closely monitored by their loving children.” The statement continued.

The family further asks for prayers and well wishes for the elders to recover.
“Please pray for God’s healing power. “But now I will heal and mend them. I will make them whole and bless them with an abundance of peace and security”. Jeremiah 33.6” reads part of the statement.
“We ask you to please respect the family’s privacy at this time so that they can focus on Joseph and Amna’s wellbeing.” Martina Lagu Yanga said.
