Minister of General Education Hon. Awut Deng Acuil briefing the President on the progress of national examination.

On 12 March 2021, H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit was briefed by the Minister of General Education Hon. Awut Deng Acuil on the progress of national examination for primary eight and senior four students, as well as the plans to re-open schools.

Also in attendance was the Minister of Presidential Affairs Hon. Nhial Deng Nhial.

In her remarks to the media after the meeting, Hon. Awut Deng Acuil said, she will seek advise from the Ministry of Health on whether it is healthy due to Covid-19 to reopen schools, and if endorsed then the schools will be reopened across the Country.

Hon. Awut Deng said, they also discussed increasing salaries of the teachers, and ways to ensure that there is provision of water in schools before the reopening.

In addition, Hon. Awut Deng Acuil said, the primary eight examination finished a month ago and next week, they will begin distributing senior four examination to all the states of the Republic of South Sudan and the Administrative areas.

Hon. Awut Deng Acuil also added that all the examination in South Sudan are fully paid by the Government and applauded H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit for providing finances to conduct the examinations across the Country.
